What If I Need IT Services But I’m Not Tech-Savvy?

We also have this information in video format.

Working with an IT Managed Service Provider, MSP, can sound like a daunting task if you don't have any prior knowledge about IT. Instead of trying to go in blind, here are some tips to help you get started:

  1. Identify your business needs: The first step is to identify your business needs and goals. Think about what you want to achieve with your IT, and what challenges you are currently facing. This will help you communicate your needs to the provider and enable them to recommend appropriate solutions.

  2. Ask for recommendations: Ask for recommendations from other businesses or industry peers who have worked with IT Managed Service Providers. This can help you identify reputable providers that have a proven track record of delivering quality services.

  3. Research providers: Once you have a list of potential providers, research each one to learn more about their services and expertise. Look for providers that specialize in your industry or have experience working with similar businesses.

  4. Schedule a consultation: Contact the provider and schedule a consultation to discuss your business needs and goals. This will give you an opportunity to learn more about their services and expertise, and ask any questions you may have.

  5. Ask for a proposal: After the consultation, ask the provider to prepare a proposal that outlines their recommended solutions and pricing. Review the proposal carefully and ask for clarification on any areas that you don't understand.

  6. Communicate openly: Be open and honest with the provider about your level of IT knowledge and experience. This will help them tailor their communication and recommendations to your needs, and ensure that you have a clear understanding of the services they are providing. My personal opinion, don’t tolerate IT jerks that are arrogant and condescending. Any IT professional that’s worth your time should be able to speak to techs and non-techs alike.
