Simplex-IT Staff

          Bob Coppedge

Bob Coppedge, CEO

Although Bob has been an IT professional for over 31 years, he is very gifted in the areas of speaking plainly and clearly allowing non-IT associates to follow his conversation. Couple this with his understanding of business processes, and you can understand why Simplex-IT is so successful!

For those that speak IT fluently, Bob’s functional experiences include Server applications (SQL, including High-Availability, clustering and replication, Exchange, SharePoint), and Network implementations (Small Business Server, Active Directory, Novell) and development (including .Net, Visual Foxpro).  His application experiences are equally varied, including Manufacturing (MRP and some ERP), CRM, Medical Insurance, Quality Control, Business Process and Accounting.  Bob is also a Microsoft Certified Trainer, and has trained personnel of large companies including the Cleveland Clinic and Progressive Insurance to single-person IT shops.

Bob was honored last year when he was specifically invited to be one of only a dozen Small Business Specialists in the country to be part of Microsoft’s Small Business Advisory Council. Bob has also been recognized locally and nationally for his contribution to the IT User Group community (including 7 years as President of the Greater Cleveland PC Users Group), and has spoken at several national events (most recently Microsoft Tech-Ed in Orlando in June 2008).  He’s a former columnist for Inside Business, and has written articles for the Cleveland Plain Dealer and other magazines.

Bob’s commitment to education is obvious from the number of certifications he’s acquired over the years (several of which he was a charter member, one of the first to earn it).

Bob resides in Hudson with his wife Julie.  His life is made more interesting by daughters Leah, Erin and Roberta, and three grandkids. On the unique front, Bob is a graduate of the famed Second City Improvisational Conservatory.

Bob's Certifications include: MCSE / MCTS / MCITP / MCDBA / MCT

          Sam Hays

Sam Hays

Sam got an early start in the IT industry, becoming a full-time application developer at sixteen, for a Florida-based consulting firm. Always wanting to be involved in new technologies, Sam spent his free time talking with the network engineers, reading OS and Network design literature and consolidating his understanding of programming with infrastructure/systems.

Early in his professional career, Sam moved to Ohio to be nearer to his family. Once established, he took on the role of Network Administrator / Programmer Analyst at a local application development house, where he performed development work in Visual Basic and IBM’s net.data language (which he curses to this day). He was also responsible for maintaining systems integrity on 22 servers. Unfortunately, a short time later that company had to close its doors.

Never deterred, Sam took on the position of “PC Technician” at Patio Enclosures, where he met Bob Coppedge. Over the course of six years, Sam held a variety of titles - “PC Tech,” “Network Tech,” “Network Administrator,” and finally “Senior Network Administrator.” During his time with Patio, the organizations infrastructure grew from 5 to 25 servers. Sam was instrumental in all aspects of that growth, including the Wan (with 26 locations), various upgrades (including Active Directory, Exchange), and designing a new, more secure switch environment. In addition, Sam earned an additional honor, as he was voted “Employee Owner of the Year.”

If you ask him, Sam would insist that quality of service is what defines a person’s skill and he maintains an extremely high standard for both himself and his peers. That commitment is the very attribute that customers have come to expect and that Simplex-IT commits to in all its projects, which is why he has once again chosen to work with Bob Coppedge.

Sam lives in Stow, Ohio with his wife Kathleen and stepsons Andrew and Robert. He enjoys playing the piano, training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and working with his kids to improve their chess game.

Sam's Certifications include: MCSE / MCTS / MCITP / MCT / CCNA
