Sharing our Secrets with our Competition?

January was an odd month.  Superbowl LIII is in the books, I still have no idea who Maroon 5 is, and we are in the middle of a ton of stuff. We’re bringing on board a good number of new customers, and it looks like we added a new tech (Steven) just in the nick of time.  We’re facing the challenge of having to delay bringing on new customers (only by a month or so).Think about that. We’re actually asking new customers "Hey, can you wait a month to bring you on board?"Are we nuts?Well, that’s a separate conversation, probably requiring some professional services<g>.  Seriously, though.  We’re becoming more successful with our Marketing and Sales processes in terms of developing a good, solid pipeline.  So we have more customers coming on board.  And we’re also developing a better implementation process, meaning that we can effectively bring more (or larger/more complex) customers on board.  But we don’t want to bite off more than we can chew. This means we have specific goals and metrics in place to make sure we don’t overextend ourselves.  From my studies of developing companies, there are two things that seem to be the kryptonite of otherwise healthy companies.  Cash flow and growing too fast.  We’re taking pains to manage both issues as best we can.We had our first formal management meeting aimed at implementing the EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) management framework.  This daylong event was productive, and a great opportunity for the management group to really work on developing the business..I was interviewed recently by the podcast MSPVoice (produced by CloudBerry and hosted by Doug Hazelman) about the success Simplex-IT has seen over the years.  It was a lot of fun doing it, and I think the discussion (click here to watch) reasonably shows what we’re about. We’re heading back to the video arcade bar Quarter Up this month (the 19th).  Should be fun (just like when 60 folks joined us in August). My 2nd book is progressing quickly (as compared to my previous book).  I’m about 3/4 the way through.  My goal is to have the first draft done by April, and the book actually released in June.  The book is written for other MSP’s (Managed Service Providers) like Simplex-IT, and how to develop a CoMITs practice (Co-Managed IT services).   Yup, I’m writing a book for my competition on how to do what we do.  Go figure.I’m speaking at the MSP World Conference in Austin in March.  I’ll be talking about CoMITs.I’ll also be presenting to about 1300 MSP’s in Nashville in March, part of the Technology Marketing Toolkit’s “Better Your Best” annual competition.  Simplex-IT was chosen as one of the 5 finalists in terms of marked improvement from 2017-2018.  I’ll be talking about how we did it.Yup.  To my competition. Are we nuts?
