Click here to RSVP.One of Microsoft’s most popular products is Office, the combination of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, plus a host of other products that make the list of superheroes in “Avengers 4” look like a one-person play. And Microsoft usually updates the product every 3 years, resulting in Office 2000, Office 2003, Office 2007 (ok, this one took 4 years), Office 2010, Office 2013, and most recently Office 2016So, with 2019 coming up, you’d like to think that Microsoft is coming out with the next version, right? And it would be named Office 2019, right? And you can choose to upgrade or keep what you have, right?And the answer seems to be…it depends. For every one of those questions. And this is the topic of Simplex-IT’s next Lunch and Learn on October 24th. Microsoft has some big changes, and for the most part it ain’t about the product itself, but the licensing, naming, support and upgrade paths.In a nutshell, your product upgrading and naming will differ if you’re licensing through Office 365 or other venues. In fact, if you’re using Office through Office 365 you’re probably already using parts of Office 2019. Except it’ll never be called Office 2019 (if you’re licensing through Office 365). It’ll just be called “Office”.Plus the additional security features and options make the remainder of this year and next year…interesting…if you’re responsible for licensing, purchasing, training, upgrading or supporting organizations using Office.Usually we spend time talking about the new features.
