IT Nation Secure 2023 Recap

IT Nation Secure 2023 brought together cybersecurity pros, MSPs, and industry leaders in an awesome event that left attendees equipped with valuable knowledge. From engaging speakers to meaningful conversations, the conference was a success, offering a lot of insights protecting ourselves as MSPs, supporting clients' compliance journeys, and combating AI-driven threats. Let's delve into the highlights and takeaways from this exciting event.

Securing Accounts and Criticality of security within MSPs:

One of the standout sessions for me was “How I’d Hack Your MSP” featuring Jason Slagle, Tom Lawrence, and Matt Lee. Their talk shed light on the pressing need for comprehensive security strategies to protect MSPs and their clients' sensitive data. Folks learned a lot from their insights into the vulnerabilities that MSPs face and the measures necessary to safeguard against cyber threats.

Supporting Clients' Compliance Journey:

Jacob Horne and Leia Kupris Shilobod enlightened the audience about the critical role MSPs play in the supply chain, but also how we can support clients on their compliance journey. Their wisdom emphasized the importance of understanding regulatory requirements and working with our clients to implement the necessary safeguards. Folks gained valuable insights into how to navigate the complex compliance landscape and effectively assist their clients in meeting regulatory standards.

AI and Threat Actors:

AI has been a hot topic for the last several months. We’ve seen countless articles on how threat actors are using AI for evil. That’s why I was excited when ConnectWise approved my submission to speak at IT Nation Secure with the session titled “Defending Against Our AI Overlords.” In this session I looked at the current trends with AI powered threat actors, while leading to the conclusion that their methods are relatively unchanged. So as a defender, we can implement a robust, defensible cyber posture to defend against these AI powered threats.

Wrapping up

Any conference is a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with old friends and new ones alike, and IT Nation Secure 2023 was no disappointment here either. It was great to catch up, share stories, and collaborate. These conversations and collaborative moments are so critical to the growth of our industry.
