Zero Trust World Conference 2023
Recently I had the opportunity to attend Zero Trust World in Orlando. This was an excellent security centric conference for Managed Service Providers. The focus of this conference was on defensive security practices, including the concept of Zero Trust. Over the course of two days, we had the opportunity to see some of the offensive tradecraft used by attackers and methods defenders can use to protect their environments.
However, I wasn’t there as an attendee but as a speaker. I had the opportunity to speak on a panel about the role compliance frameworks play in an organization’s security posture.
This really boiled down to the fact that compliance frameworks play a major role in any company’s security posture. This is because regulatory compliance or contractual compliance obligations must be factored into the security policies and procedures for an organization. Of course, all these obligations aren’t the ‘cool’ part of the information security industry, but it helps lay the foundation that all the nifty tools and tech adhere to.
I’m extremely honored and humbled to have been asked to share from my experiences with the attendees, and I had a wonderful experience at the conference.
Lastly, I really valued the time I had talking with many individuals at the conference about their own journeys in the industry. There’s so many brilliant folks out there at various stages of their careers. I enjoy having the opportunity to learn from them and to share my experiences over the course of my own career. I strongly feel these conversations help build up our industry and provide an immediate value to the organizations we all support.
