Sun Tzu & Cyber Security
If you like to be condescending and arrogant like me, you know every once in a while you have to bring up a Sun Tzu quote from Art of War.
So Sun Tzu was a philosopher, warrior, all around cool guy in China around 500 or so BC and he wrote Art of War although I prefer Art of Strategy which is the translation by RL Wing back in the 90’s, it’s my favorite translation of that book.
But in any case, one of his more famous quotes was, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of 100 battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer defeat. And if you know neither the enemy or yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
Ok why am I bringing that up except I needed a video topic? The reason I’m bringing it up is you’re the leader of an organization and you need to know what the bad guys are trying to do. And the majority of what they’re trying to do is to sneak in using ransomware attacks. You need to know what your IT folks, what your IT department or provider is not only capable of, but is actively doing in terms of fighting that enemy.
You need to know sufficiently whether A) you understand the enemy well enough and B) whether you understand your resources that you’re bringing to the battle. And if you don’t, contact us.
What’s your favorite Sun Tzu quote? And not the one about the Kardashian’s, I’m pretty sure that one’s fake.
