What is Microsoft Teams Exploratory?
We also have this information in video format.
Hey, if your organization is using Microsoft 365, you're probably familiar with this part of the administrative role, and that is taking a look at your licenses.
But have you ever seen this one? Microsoft Teams Exploratory? Either it's a trial or what the heck is it? Well, it's Microsoft trying to be helpful. There's no end to the humor.
Microsoft cloud services primarily falls under two roles. One is the Microsoft 365 which includeds a lot of licensing, Windows, the Office e-mail project, all that kind of fun stuff.
And then there's Azure, which is the infrastructure as a service and the like.
What Microsoft did in their infinite wisdom is they decided, hey you folks using Azure, you should also use Microsoft 365. So, we're going to give you Microsoft Teams Exploratory, which is essentially a 12 month free license for your organization to use Teams. And by the way, 12 months later we're going to tell you how it's expiring, and you should do something about it.
What they don't do is they don't bother to take a look and see whether or not the organization is already using Teams. So this example is for an organization that already has Teams as part of the Business Standard product or other products as well. Since they're already using Teams, they don't need Microsoft Teams Exploratory. But it'll still going to stay there. It'll still look like a license and a trial, and then Microsoft will send you a notice 12 months later that this is expiring and you'd better buy something soon.
So, bottom line, if your organization is already using Teams, this is an absolutely meaningless product. And if you are interested in taking a look at Microsoft 365, whether you're using it or not, maybe you need somebody like Simplex-IT to talk to about it, Huh. I'll bet you do. Contact us.
So that's a little insight into the fun of working with Microsoft. Yay.
